 All Workforce Solutions East Texas Youth Programs are funded under the Workforce Investment Act (WIA). These programs serve economically disadvantaged youth ages 14-21 who are in or out of school. Programs available to youth in the East Texas Area include:
Activities include:
- tutoring, study skills training, and instruction leading to secondary school completion, including dropout prevention strategies
- alternative secondary school offerings
- summer employment opportunities directly linked to academic and occupational learning
- paid and unpaid work experience, including internships and job shadowing
- occupational skills training
- leadership development opportunities, which include community service and peer-centered activities
- supportive services
- adult mentoring during and after program participation
- follow-up services to support continued success in achieving
- education and employment goals
- comprehensive guidance and counseling
